drabble.
She sat by the waters, and stared into its depths.
The sunlight streamed down, glinting off the surface.
Rays of light zigzagged through the clear liquid, lighting the water with brilliant colours of blue and green.
But with light there is always shadow.
The girl stared hard into the shadows, as deep and dark as her mind was at the moment.
A million thoughts were racing through her mind so fast that she felt no conscious thought.
They came and left before her mind could even register them.
Despite that, each time a thought appeared it left its imprint on her.
As each thought was stabbed in and pulled out of her brain at their rapid speed, she could not respond quick enough to acknowledge the strikes, but felt the pain of each blow.
Her mind was slowly bleeding away but all she could do was sit there and feel everything leave her, stare into the approaching darkness and feel only pain.
Her mind used to be like the bright waters, shining and shimmering with a myriad of colours.
But with the sunset that was eating away at her, with the light leaving her, she was slipping more and more into shadow.
Dark twisted and festered in her, chasing away more and more light.
Suddenly she was no longer seated on the grass and was in the water.
Water was all around her, and the cold of the liquid comforted her somewhat.
Soothed away some of the pain.
She closed her eyes and relaxed, floating in the water, and felt the pain slowly slip away bit by bit.
The waters swirled around her.
Soon she hurt no more.
